Level 2 Series
Starting in 2009, The Cleveland Wine School will present a Level 2 Wine Series featuring the wines of France, Italy, Spain and the New World. Perfect for students who have already taken Wine Tasting 101 and Varietals I, this series goes one step further to explore grapes, terrior and culture within a specific country. Take them individually or as a series of four. The cost is $45 per class or $150 for the series of four.
THE GRAPES OF ITALY

This class will be taught by Ohio’s only Master Sommelier Matthew Citriglia. Discover how to make the wines of Italy a little less intimidating by learning some of the primary grapes along with a bit of geography. Enjoy some of the world's greatest wine values during this invaluable tasting of Italy's native grapes! Spring into Spain. Sip the sunny flavors of Spain during this informative yet entertaining look at Spain. Considered to be on of the hottest wine regions, all eyes are on Spain. The class includes a one hour lecture and a tutored tasting of 6-8 different wines from Spain. Suggested preparation: Wine Tasting 101, Varietals I or an understanding of noble grape varieties.
NEW WORLD WINES

Known for big bold fruit, New World wines are like the rock-n-roll wines of the world. Loaded with fruit and attitude, these wines have something to offer every wine consumer. From age-worthy elegance to youthful readiness, the class includes 6-8 wines with a focus on tasting for oak and understanding cool climate vs warm climate flavor profiles. Suggested preparation: Wine Tasting 101, Varietals I or an understanding of noble grape varieties.
