The American Wine School began as the Cleveland Wine School and still maintains its headquarters in Beachwood, Ohio on Cleveland’s east side. We offer the widest selection of classes at this location. Whether you know a little or a lot about wine, the American Wine School offers a systematic approach that can help you build your wine knowledge. The Introductory classes begin with the basics: how to taste wine and identify flavors. Classes continue grape-by-grape, country-by-country to give tasters a well-rounded knowledge of wine. The Fundamental Series includes:

WSET 2010 Class Schedule
For the more serious wine student, the American Wine School offers an internationally recognized program of study through its affiliation with the prestigious Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET). Founded in 1969, WSET is the leading wine certification program in the world providing standardized, high-quality wine and spirit education. WSET Foundation Certificate – Cleveland
This entry level course provides basic information on basic grape varieties, introduction to wine tasting, food and wine pairing as well as basic service knowledge. Perfect for people new to the world of wine, this is a great starting point for most novice consumers. The course is offered six times during the year:
Tuesdays, Jan 12, 19, 26 from 6pm -8pm. Optional Exam Feb 2, 2010 at 6pm

WSET Intermediate Certificate – Cleveland
This course provides basic information on the wines regions of the world. From labeling laws to climate, soil and grape varieties, the Intermediate Course is the best route to broaden your product knowledge. It's also perfect for wine enthusiasts who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge while obtaining a WSET Certificate.

WSET Advanced Certificate – Cleveland
This course is recommended for those who have earned the Intermediate Certificate, or have a good foundation of wine knowledge. In depth lectures and discussions covering wines and spirits of the world are designed to give a thorough understanding of the principal wines and spirits of the world and their commercial importance.
